September 7, 2001 To Whom It May Concern: In October of 1998, Ericsson acquired Advanced Computer Communications. Ericsson was a $26Bn company and ACC was a $40Mn company. The challenges of a successful integration were many including the fact that all of Ericsson’s previous acquisitions within the US had failed. Following the acquisition, I was the President of ACC and the General manager of the newly formed Ericsson unit. During this time and up until recently, I had the pleasure of working with Dennis Fitzgerald. Dennis was part of the acquisition team and represented Ericsson during the subsequent integration of the unit. Dennis had a particular focus on taking care of the people, developing and implementing retention strategies, helping to integrate the organization into a $26Billion company, keeping us informed, generally giving us sound advice. Through his work, this integration was largely successful as two years after the acquisition the group remained intact, had grown substantially and was providing vital technology and experience to Ericsson’s next generation networks. This was quite an achievement considering the volatility of this market sector. I would highly recommend Dennis for assignments of this nature in the future. Sincerely
